After Hours and Emergency at Baldivis Emergency Vet
Baldivis Emergency Vet has improved the lives of thousands of patients since opening in 2014.
Patients who have an urgent medical issue such as being bitten by a snake or trauma from a motor vehicle are treated right here at Baldivis Emergency Vet.
The team of Veterinarians and Nurses are trained in Emergency Medicine and Surgery ready for what ever the evening or public holiday brings.
Providing special care for your pets

Please be aware we do NOT offer ‘routine’ veterinary services like vaccinations and desexing outside of regular daytime hours.

The emergency Practice is open to any owner who is concerned regarding their pet, we are here to help even if you want your pet examined for your peace of mind.
Emergency Pet Examination
We need to examine your pet to determine whether an issue exists so while we can offer general advice on the telephone, advice is limited pending a proper physical examination.
Possible Pet Emergencies
Examples of conditions that may require immediate attention are:
- Weakness / inability to get up
- Breathing problems
- Abdominal bloating
- Difficulty giving birth
- Problems with urinating
- Injuries or pain to an eye
- Fresh wounds
- Ingestion of toxins
- Ate off food
- Poisoned
- Stroke
- Seizure / fit
- Euthanasia
- Medications or foreign material
- Pain – eg leg or back pain
- Ear pain
- Abdominal pain or post surgical pain

What to expect
When you arrive at Baldivis Emergency Vet, your pet will be prioritised in a similar way to a priority in an Emergency Department within a hospital.
The process of prioritisation is called triage, and making an advance appointment can help avoid delays which unfortunately can occur in an emergency practice. We have a number of veterinarians so we are able to see your pet promptly.
Full Veterinary Practice
We offer a full veterinary practice within the emergency practice.
Our computer system is able to access Baldivis Vet Hospital patient records, our laboratory available for blood tests and our ultrasound and x-ray machines are available and fully functional.
Diagnostic Equipment
We have many kinds of diagnostic equipment available in the Emergency practice and Staff are onsite all night so your pet will never be alone.
We have a strong surgical capability in the emergency practice, cesarean births are common as are the surgical correction of gastric dilation and volvulus in certain breed of dogs. Bone fractures are reasonably common and many fractures are repaired in combination with the Baldivis Emergency Vet and Advanced Surgery Centre.

Around the clock emergency team on site
If you are able, it is best to ring us and give advanced warning of your arrival at Baldivis Emergency Vet, if your pet has an emergency we will ensure you are seen as soon as possible. Alternatively you can send us an email at info@baldivisvet.com.au.
Emergency FAQs
We ask that you please make an appointment prior to seeing us so that we can ensure your waiting time is minimised. Of course, if you have an emergency you can bring your pet straight in.
You can book an appointment via phone (08 9524 1466), email (info@www.baldivisvet.com.au) or through our new online bookings feature.
If you are not normally a client of Baldivis Vet Hospital a full report will be sent to your regular vet the following day to allow for continuity when you go back to your vet.
If your pet was admitted to hospital with us you may be required to transport your animal back to your regular vet for ongoing treatment if it is safe to be transported, unless alternative arrangements have been made with your vet.
We do not offer ‘routine’ veterinary services like vaccinations and desexing outside of regular daytime hours.

When you arrive at the clinic the front door may be locked for security reasons: lift the phone handset which will let a buzzer sound in the clinic. One of our staff will let you in.
Alternatively, if time allows, phone ahead to let us know that you are coming to allow us to prepare for your arrival.
